Miroslav Vitous, John Scofield, Kenny Kirkland, George Ohtsuka, Mabumi Yamaguchi Miroslav Vitouš Czech jazz bassist, composer, band leader, educator. Born December 6, 1947 in Prague. Brother of Alan Vitouš, son of Josef Vitouš. Cofounder of Weather Report in 1970. Has been played on. France 1. One jazz not.

Here, he has assembled his own band, most notably featuring John Scofield and Kenny Kirkland. The pieces are good, but not terribly adventurous. And although this is Vitous' band, except for the piece Guardian Angels, the bass isn't really featured on the album. The first half of the album, aside from the song mentioned above, appeared to be geared to feature soprano sax player Mabumi Yamaguchi. He's actually quite good. And Vitous' acoustic bass playing is nice as well, but none of the songs catch fire. The second half is more electrified. Vitous switches to electric bass.

Some of the music grooves (such as "Off to Buffalo") while other tracks are episodic mood pieces.

Yamaguchi’s soprano is a bit whiny and shrill at times (definitely not Wayne Shorter), but enjoyable. Track 2 – Inner Peace. This is a slow and powerful piece with Vitous alternating between finger-style and bow on acoustic bass, and Yamaguchi playing soulfully and with less shrill. Kirkland supports nicely. Track 3 – Guardian Angels. To start, it features a future member of his group, Kenny Kirkland, on keyboards, John Scofield sounds great on guitar and brings two originals.
