Bassist Miroslav Vitous was a founding member of Weather Report, making him one of the architects of the highly improvisational approach taken by the original band. On his earlier album Remembering Weather Report (ECM, 2009) he evoked the spirit of the old band and its collective improvisational style (characterized by keyboardist Joe Zawinul as "No one solos, everyone solos"). This time he works directly with Weather Report repertoire (plus a few brief new compositions).

Fascinating how different music appeals to different people, and the prices people will pay. This just leaves me cold...to my ears sounds like filler on the B side of a nondescript 70s-80s jazz album.

Yes this is very different and was a massive record at Blackpool Mecca n the mid 70sI think it might be time for a revival!

You are obviously not a fan of real dance music. These are the types of tracks that influenced entire GENRES.

I think you have to understand the history of this track... Read downtown.music's review... If you had been a part of the scene that embraced 'New York City' all would become clear... 'Free your mind and your ass will follow'. Peace.

Utterly brilliant Jazz Funk Disco jam with left-of center female vocalizations weaving in and out. Very proto-Arthur Russell in flavor, with a strong dose Herbie Hancock space-vibe flava...Several Herbie sidemen play here. There's a reason why this 12" goes for hundreds of dollars. For those of us with bills to pay, there are one or two CD re-issues out there, and the original LP version is the same, and relatively easy to find. Big at The Loft and the Paradise Garage.
