Rush is the debut studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on March 1, 1974 by the band's own label Moon Records in Canada and by Mercury Records in the United States and internationally. Their first release shows much of the hard rock sound typical of many of the popular rock bands emerging earlier in the decade. Rush were fans of such bands as Led Zeppelin and Cream, and these influences can be heard in most of the songs on the album.

Rush fans have always wondered what are the best Rush albums of all time. Since they were immortalized in the film I Love You, Man, they've enjoyed more success than ever before. They also happen to be one of the greatest hard rock and greatest prog rock bands ever to come out of Canada. This Rush discography is ranked from best to worst, so the best Rush albums can be found at the top of the list.
Deciding the best Rush album is a near impossible task. On one hand, you have a perfect meld of Rush's 70's and 80's era in Moving Pictures. On the other, you have their absolute classic album and the recording that cemented them as a prog rock powerhouse, 2112, with that legendary masterpiece of a title track. On the other hand, you could say the vast amounts of experimentation on Hemispheres resulting in quite possibly the greatest rock instrumental ever, La Villa Strangiato, takes the cake for pinnacle Rush album
Rush's first album of the '90s found the band sending the keyboards further back in the mix as Alex Lifeson's guitar regained its deserved prominence. The title track injected a spoken word rap, somewhat controversially, into the otherwise familiar realm of what had previously been expected from a Rush album. After shifting stylistic phases throughout the '80s, 'Roll the Bones' firmly planted the Canadian veterans back on solid ground for an album that was generally well received by the Rush fanbase. 8.
