Semicircle (stylised as SEMICIRCLE) is the fifth studio album by English band The Go! Team. It was released on 19 January 2018 by Memphis Industries. Vocals on the album were provided by band members Ninja and Maki, with guest vocals from the Detroit Youth Choir, Julie Margat, Darenda Weaver, and Amber Arcades. Brass was provided by the Neon Saints Brass Band. All tracks written by Ian Parton, except where noted.

On their fifth album, the Go! Team look to the Motor City for their 1960s fix; they’re as boisterous as ever, but their nostalgia doesn’t dip far beneath the surface of their inspirations. Featured Tracks: Play Track. Across Semicircle ’s 12 tracks, a sense of time slippage occurs: In 2018, the Go! Team sound much like they did back in 2004, all while retaining a fervent enthusiasm for the sounds of the 1960s. The album teems with girl-group bubblegum, giddy cheers, and peppy drums reminiscent of Phil Spector ’s Wall of Sound. The Answer’s No - Now What’s the Question could be mistaken for a cut from the One Kiss Can Lead to Another box set. But this isn’t exactly fresh terrain; Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls, and Frankie Rose all mined the same seam, often to edgier effect, in the mid 2000s.

Since they burst onto the scene with Thunder, Lightning, Strike in 2004, everything released by the Go! Team has been an exuberant blast of life-affirming, heartwarming fun. The players may change and the stylistic mix may vary, but one thing remains constant, and that's founder Ian Parton's knack for crafting genius pop songs out of obscure samples and picking the perfect people to sing and/or rap over them

Semicircle, The Go! Team's latest record, begins with a track called "Mayday" and finishes with one titled "Getting Back Up". This journey from trouble to triumph is representative of the conquering spirit that runs through the album, powered by ebullient marching band horns and drums alongside the vitality and melodrama of the Detroit Youth Choir. As a whole, it makes for an easier listen than their super-sweet previous album, The Scene Between, while offering a cohesive sound that recalls their debut

Team’s fifth album, Semicircle, the next entry in the Brighton collective’s catalogue of souped-up, bombastic plunderphonics. Mayday kicks things off in a typically amalgamous fashion, the sound of morse code, cheerleader chants, ‘60s soul and that rebellious marching band swirl around a lovesick kid’s pleas for help. It’s because of this that Semicircle is just about as good as any other Go! Team record, but with a drum line and fight-song brass on top. Since they’ve never really been able to top 2004’s Thunder, Lightning, Strike, that means that everything on Semicircle is fun, but not much of it is super fun. It’s kind of like going a field trip; technically you’re not at school, but it’s still school.
