pierrelefou Go Team's second album takes everything that's great album the first one and cranks it up even further. This one will make you feel like you're in elementary school again. Back once again it’s The Go! Team, with another treble-heavy adventure in audio, their second album Proof of Youth due for release on 10 September 2007. 2004’s Mercury Music Prize nominated and 250k selling debut album Thunder Lightning Strike came from nowhere to win plaudits and fans alike worldwide with its hybrid of old school hip hop, noise band work outs, TV action show theme tunes and Motown horn blasts.
Proof of Youth is the second studio album by English band The Go! Team. It was released on 10 September 2007 in the United Kingdom by Memphis Industries and a day later in the United States by Sub Pop. Proof of Youth was preceded by two singles: "Grip Like a Vice", released on 2 July 2007, and "Doing It Right", released on 3 September 2007. The first pressing of the album on Compact Disc includes a second disc, with six additional tracks in the UK or four in the US.
The second single from Proof of Youth, "Doing It Right", was released on 3 September 2007 and received daytime radio play from BBC Radio 1 and soundtracked the BBC's launch of the iPlayer. Like "The Power Is On", the song was also used in the film Whip It, but actually does appear on the film's soundtrack release. In 2008 The Go! Team contributed the song "Templates from Home" to Bruce Parry's Survival International charity album, Songs for Survival. Main article: Rolling Blackouts. The album was released on 31 January 2011.
The former is easily the least melodic, least poppy song on the album. It’s a stellar tune that weaves the typical brass and catchy choruses with a whole lot of guitar noise and a guest appearance by Public Enemy’s Chuck D, whose rapping works surprisingly well overtop the mess of instrumentation. The latter, like Hold Yr. Terror Close before it, is a ballad built around piano reminiscent of the type of thing you’d find in a Charlie Brown cartoon
Team burst onto the indie scene like the proverbial breath of fresh air. Thunder, Lightning, Strike, their debut album, was a brilliant record and Proof of Youth can't help but suffer when stacked up against it. Read full description. See details and exclusions. Building on the upbeat funfest of their first album, the go team once again get you on your feet to boogie the night away. Puts a smile on your face every time its played.
Team burst onto the indie scene like the proverbial breath of fresh air. Their music, built on samples of schoolyard chants and TV theme rockers, made most everything else sound gray and a little timid in comparison. Indeed, it might take a fews spins before you can shake the feeling that you're listening to outtakes from Thunder, Lightning, Strike, b. Contents. Personnel The Go! Team.
