Blood Inside is the sixth full-length studio album by Norwegian experimental collective Ulver. Produced by Ulver, together with Ronan Chris Murphy, the album was recorded and mixed in early 2004, and issued in June 2005 via Jester Records. The album sees Ulver return to more classically-based arrangements and instrumentation. The coda on It Is Not Sound" is based on Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach.

Blood Inside is simply the best post-rock album I have heard. Admittedly, this is not a genre I have explored thoroughly, but I have sampled enough to know the range of what is out there. This album is amazing, combining a vast range of sonic elements into a dark work that sounds like the soundtrack to a neo-gothic nightmare.

As it stands, those provide but a few of the startling juxtapositions strewn about this typically atypical and unpredictable Ulver experience: including everything from moody and haunting ambience ("Dressed in Black" and the title track), to off-kilter, "Varesian" blocks of symphonic sound ("Christmas" and "Operator"), to the occasional slice of urgent, quasi-techno rhythms.

Blood Inside is an excellent often overlooked Ulver release and understandably so. This album is like a sexy shy girl, it may be difficult to get her to open up but once you do it can be awfully rewarding. Without question there is one thing this album isn’t lacking that being confidence. Commonplace dabbling with soaring melodies opening and closing upon the songs, rendering it hard not to notice the influenced of vocal jazz. An obvious example of jazz influence is in ‘Your Call’ where violin and a twinkly 50’s style orchestration join in on the action.

Blood Inside continues with the electronic/ambient journey Ulver are currently on and which seems like a perpetual movement. The unusual assortment of sounds that Ulver create don't compliment Garm's vocals whatsoever. Worthless? It not Ulver is.
