U2 - Songs Of Innocence (2014).
Songs Of Innocence is the most intimate album we've ever made. With this record we were looking for the raw, naked and personal, to strip everything back. The idea of the unique relationship between a parent and child, the image of a father and son, came from the band. The shoot with Larry and his son was initially an experiment but everyone loved it as a visual metaphor for the record. and reveal how music changed everything.

Songs of Innocence (U2 album). 2014 studio album by U2. Songs of Innocence. Songs of Innocence is the 13th studio album by Irish rock band U2. Released on 9 September 2014, it was produced by Danger Mouse, with additional production from Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Declan Gaffney, and Flood.
Apple billed Songs of Innocence as the single biggest album release of all time, but it took less than a week before the company was scrambling to tell everyone how they could rid it from their libraries. Songs of Innocence is essentially an act in three parts. There’s the pleasantly familiar, the flat and misguided, and the new and slightly unusual. The record’s first four tracks are pretty much vintage U2, from the catchy, anthemic single The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) to melodramatic tunes that scale the heights of epic grandeur ( If there is a dark that we shouldn’t doubt/ Then there’s a light, don’t let it go out, Bono pleads passionately on Song for Someone ).

Nevertheless, Songs of Innocence isn’t a bad album as such. Detached from that excitable assessment, however, it’s actually a really good exploration of adolescence, alternately sardonic – I’ve got music so I can exaggerate my pain, notes Bono at one point – bullish and uneasy. Anyone who feels their sphincter involuntarily tightening at the thought of a U2 song called The Troubles might be surprised to learn that it doesn’t seem to have much to do with ethno-nationalist conflict
