This new draft was re-mastered by John Wiese (Man Is The Bastard, Bastard Noise, Sissy Spacek) and includes an extra track, "Grimm and Bear It", which first appeared as a vinyl-only drone on the double-LP version of 2001's Flight of the Behemoth. Across "Black Wedding", "Defeating: Earths' Gravity", "Dylan Carlson" (named for the main in Earth), and the aforementioned "Grimm and Bear It" there are no guitar solos.

The GrimmRobe Demos ‎(2xLP, Pic, RE + LP, Pic). What this particular album may do for some, however, is induce slumber. It's experimental, it's edgy, it's loud, it's brash. It's all that, but it's also kinda boring, to be honest. The strum of electronic guitars can sometimes be sustained for what seems to be an eternity, before the same chord is struck and sustained for another lifetime. Then, it shifts to another chord, yet again sustained and repeated. To ensure a complete mind-fuck, the tracks are each at least 15 minutes long.

If there is a 'typical' Sunn album, it's probably this one. Im trying to think up a few clever metaphors to describe this album, but really it's quite hard. I can sum up this album in one sentence- Incredibly slow downtuned riffs repeated for a very long time. The demos are also re-released with this majestically apocalyptic and annihilating poetry written by er/filmmaker Seldon Hunt, giving some chilling prose in his poem, Ode to the Grimmrobe : Feel every human memory in a journey that lasts forever, drown in the fathomless liquid of a billion forgotten dreams, there will be no awakening, the overwhelming collapse of sanity breaks.

Additionally, the original pressing of The Grimmrobe Demos was released by Hydra Head Records. It was later issued as a double picture record set by Outlaw Recordings and finally reissued by Southern Lord in 2004. The logo the band uses is also that of the Sunn amplifier brand. Sunn O))) experiments with a variety of styles and sounds, progressing beyond the primarily guitar and bass style of The Grimmrobe Demos and ØØ Void.
