Description

A MH2 - Clark Hutchinson (1969) Full Album.

East of Eden was a British progressive rock band, who had a Top 10 hit in the UK with the single, "Jig-a-Jig", in 1971. The track was stylistically unlike any of their other work. Although some might consider this group as being a symphonic progressive band, others state that their style is mostly jazz oriented.

East of Eden is the second studio album by Taken by Trees, the solo project of Swedish musician Victoria Bergsman. The album was released on 7 September 2009 by Rough Trade Records. Bergsman travelled to Pakistan to record the album, and several of the album's songs incorporate influences from Pakistani music. The song "My Boys" is a cover of the Animal Collective song "My Girls" with some minor lyric changes.

With their debut album, Mercator Projected, East Of Eden approached a unique territory that could be described as a crossover of psychedelic rock and world music. One year after the work, the group started recording Snafu, an album that many years later is considered their best work. The music on Snafu is nearly unclassifiable. A rather obscure piece of music from England in 1970, the band East of Eden released their undeniably perfect album on the apex of progressive music's creation. Many of the bands sounds point to Gentle Giant, who has the same sort of eclectic zeal that's present in Snafu. East of Eden in the very same manner didn't achieve heavy popularity with their releases either, but was significantly more successful.

A British progressive rock band that formed in the late 1960s to the early 1970s, and who still release the occasional album. Began as a heavy psychedelic band with a strong eastern influence before exploring more jazz/rock territory, then settled into more a mainstream country rock mode.

Biography by Bruce Eder. East of Eden is a perfect illustration of the futility that England's Decca Records faced in cultivating progressive rock (apart from the Moody Blues). A critically acclaimed jazz-fusion band with a stron. ead Full Biography. See Full Discography.

The album as such is a fantastic mix of country, blues and prog. The songs are self contained, and the sax and violin combo East Of Eden used really make this music work: it is not prog in the extended suite sense, but the unique combonations of instruments and the jazzy solos make this highly gripping music, The highlight: "Crazy Daisy," a pungent hard rock jazz jam that alone makes the album worth seeking. Also the CD title song "EAST OF EDEN" it's just so artiscally witty and hip. Living taxi distance to NYC I've seen more Concerts at MSG and the Bottom Line etc. these past forty years and all I can say is that this veritable Kiwi legend will simply revitalize your love and enjoyment of good old R&R music.
