The album title reflects the number of releases the Coal Porters have issued since shifting from their country-rock beginnings to alternative bluegrass. Their preceding album, Find The One, from 2012, also offers 10 tracks written by various band members, as well as covers of David Bowie's Heroes and the Rolling Stones' Paint It, Black. Richard Thompson joins the Coal Porters on the song Hush U Babe/Burnham Thorpe, and famed BBC presenter Brian Matthew provides a guest introduction to Griffin's Ask Me Again. Durango, the Coal Porters' 2010 compact disc, also appeared on the Prima label. Ed Stasium recorded the 12-track CD in Durango, Colorado, the Southern Colorado town for which the album is named. Rebels Without Applause (1991). Land of Hope and Crosby (1994).

The Coal Porters are a London based bluegrass band, led by Sid Griffin. Since forming the band out of the ashes of The Long Ryders in the late 1980s the band line-up has changed on numerous occasions. The current line-up is: Kerenza Peacock – fine fiddle and vocals; Paul Fitzgerald – banjo and vocals; Sid Griffin – vocals, mandolin, harmonica and autoharp; Andrew Stafford – bass; Neil Robert Herd – guitar and vocals.

The group, which quickly relocated to England, debuted with Rebels Without Applause (originally an Australian 12" EP), followed in 1994 by the full-length effort Land of Hope and Crosby. The album featured such guests as ex-Green on Red organist Chris Cacavas and ex-Rockpile member Billy Bremner. Griffin continued to use a revolving cast of musicians on the band's follow-up, Los London. In 2001, that version of the Coal Porters released the all-acoustic bluegrass album The Chris Hillman Tribute Concerts, which explored the career of the ex-Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers member. This acoustic incarnation of Coal Porters made its studio debut in 2004 with How Dark This Earth Will Shine, followed in 2008 by Turn the Water On, Boy!, the latter of which continued Griffin's exploration of his own bluegrass roots.
