Recording this album in my own studio has been a great chance to stretch out and experiment within areas I had only previously touched on. Not relying on the voice/song formula made me carry my ideas further, knowing the music could stand on its own. I followed my nose (big amd pointed) and travelled to some strange and unexpected places. Transportation, Billy Currie.

Transportation :: Originally released in 1988 & Billy Currie's first solo effort, this album has been knowingly and lovingly crafted, taking on a strong theatrical stance. Transportation" sums up the whole record - it's vast, majestic, wild and remote. Billy plays the piano with incredible intent here, creating phrases which contrast later with the more subtle parts of the track. An incredible journey, true of the whole album and not just its title track, with some stunning guitar parts courtesy of guest Steve Howe. Listen carefully as "Transportation".

In 1988, Currie put out an instrumental solo album Transportation, released on the IRS NoSpeak record label. Steve Howe played guitar on some of the tracks. In 1989 he formed the band Humania. An album by them called Sinews of Soul was released in 2005. In 1992, Currie reformed Ultravox with a new line-up (himself being the only original member involved). With Tony Fennell on vocals, they recorded the album "Revelation". At the outset of the subsequent tour, Fennell left to be replaced by Sam Blue. The tour took in the former USSR and Malta amongst other locations.

Originally released in 1988 on the . label No Speak, this was Billy Currie's debut solo album. It remained out of print for a number of years, until Currie reissued it on CD through his own label (Puzzle and Voiceprint). Ultravox fans will be thrilled to obtain this lost gem on CD, others might not be so enthused. This is an instrumental, new age-type of album, heavily supported by a number of guest artists (including Steve Howe and Simple Minds' bassist Derek Forbes).
