Joyce Manor signed with Epitaph Records to release their third album Never Hungover Again, which was released on 22 July 2014. The album was produced by Joe Reinhart and it features Frances Quinlan from the band Hop Along on the cover. The band received attention within the indie and punk communities for its stance against stage diving In the fall of 2014, drummer Kurt Walcher was replaced by Jeff Enzor. Joyce Manor's self titled album was a brilliant mix of hardcore and pop-punk, this sophomore album tones down the hardcore elements and focuses more on the pop side. There are even some songs that step even further away from the bands original sound, like the Smiths-esque Bride of Usher or the solo, acoustic, lo-fi numbers, Drainage and I'm Always Tired. At least as good as, and possibly better than, their first album. Mick Joyce Manor simply oozes cool . supported by 90 fans who also own Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired. What so great about the album is that it accomplishes so much in just thirteen minutes, thirteen perfect minutes. The bulk of the album - These Kind of Ice Skates, Comfortable Clothes, See How Tame I Can Be, Violent Inside, the should-be hit single Video Killed the Radio Star that borrows from the Buggles' song of the same name but does something new and thrilling with it - is first-rate power pop that ends abruptly, but perfectly, delivering. exactly the right amount of emotional jolt.
Still, Joyce Manor clearly have a lot going for them – an ability to write fun, relatable and catchy punk songs, and perhaps, greater ambitions – but unfortunately this potential is largely squandered on ‘Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired’.
