75 is a live album by Austrian-American jazz musician Joe Zawinul and his band the Zawinul Syndicate. It was recorded in 2007 at two performances in Switzerland and Hungary, among bandleader Joe Zawinul's final performances. The album was produced by Joachim Becker and originally released in 2008 by JVC Compact Discs, with the Zawinul Estate and Becker serving as executive producers. Zawinul", released just prior to the first Weather Report LP, gives us a chance to observe this music as originally envisioned by its composer, while still remaining firmly in the early psychedelic fusion sound that characterized both the Miles release and the first Weather Report release. This fantastic record also includes the well-known (to Miles fans) "Double Image", in a rather different musical context here as well. For this reason, I recommend Miles Davis' "In A Silent Way", Joe Zawinul's "Zawinul", and the eponymously titled Weather Report album as an inseparable set of records that document so well the fountainhead of one of the most important and influential musical movements of the 20th century. Joe Zawinul biography JOSEF ERICH ZAWINUL was born in Landstra�e district in Vienna, Austria in 1932. He was classically trained at Konzervatorium Wien, and he played on various occasions with broadcasting and studio bands before he went in United States in 1959, on a music scholarship at Berklee. He started playing with trumpeter MAYNARD FERGUSON and he met WAYNE SHORTER. Joe Zawinul's third solo album, coming still from his pre-Miles/Weather Report period. Austrian born musician lived in States from 1961 and learned plenty from American jazz musicians. This his album is very eclectic and transitional. Without big relation with "third stream", mentioned in the album's name, music there is hard bop and fusion mostly.
