Weather Report is generally regarded as the greatest jazz fusion band of all time, with the biggest jazz hit ("Birdland") from the best jazz fusion album (1977's Heavy Weather). But the group's studio mastery sometimes overshadows the fact that it was also a live juggernaut - so don't overlook the outstanding live and studio album from 1979, 8:30. This was a rare quartet version of Weather Report, with co-leaders in keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter. The bassist was the inimitable Jaco Pastorius, the drummer a young Peter Erskine.

WEATHER REPORT complete the triangle that launched fusion in the early seventies, and are highly recommend for anyone interested in Jazz Fusion. : Jeremy Spade, USA : : : WEATHER REPORT Videos (YouTube and more). For this reason he invited Andrew White to.

Originally released in May 1971, Weather Report was the debut album by the group of the same name. The album was reissued by Columbia Records in 1992. The album was digitally remastered by Vic Anesini in November 1991 at Sony Music Studios in New York City, and then released again under the Sony International label. Writing on the back sleeve of the album, Clive Davis, the then president of Columbia Records opines: "There have always been two kinds of musicians-those who create and those who imitate. Pretty loose, typical early-70s fusion date and what you might expect from these players. They kept the Bitches Brew style going for a few years. It's not bad, but it wanders around a lot. Like the Miles Davis concerts from this period, you're left wondering if the band is really interacting or if they're simultaneously playing solos. It probably would make more sense watching the concert rather than simply listening to it.
