Reverend And The Makers.
Silence is Talking" is a song by Reverend and the Makers in 2009 from their second album, A French Kiss in the Chaos. It was released on 13 July 2009, just a day after the Sheffield band supported Oasis on their stadium tour
This song is by Reverend and The Makers and appears on the album A French Kiss in the Chaos (2009). How you gonna explain this one?Whatever would you say to your friends?Nobody's gonna rewind this oneBecause there's no easy way of making amends. However did they justify this one?I wonder if it's money to homeBecause the political official might have fiddled it a little slowBut unfortunately nobody knows.
Thankfully, this teaser single from album number two is more impressive. Built around an infectious brass sample from obscure '70s funk outfit War and a long-lost Charlatans/Happy Mondays groove, 'Silence Is Talking' finds McClure attempting to craft a summer indie-dance anthem with an added political edge - think Question Time if it was hosted in an old Ibiza nightclub. McClure's lyrics about political officials on "the fiddle" are in his usual hackneyed style, but the sun-drenched chorus is so bang on the money it's actually forgivable this time around
ThirtyTwo is the fourth regular studio album by Reverend and The Makers, released on 24 February 2014 by Cooking Vinyl in the UK. The album title refers to various different things: the age of lead singer Jon McClure at the time of the album's release, his father's favourite lottery number and number of the bus route near McClure's house. The album peaked at in the UK Albums Chart, making it their second highest charting album behind their debut The State of Things.
A French Kiss In The Chaos. Reverend and the Makers. No Soap In a Dirty War.
Speaking of contradiction, I remember McClure saying that this would be the last album, as he had become "disillusioned" with the music scene, and that he was going to go into taxi driving. Last year he backtracked on this statement. I loved the first album, but this contradiction made it hard for me to try and get the new album. saw them in november, they were supporting kasibian at the NIA. i enjoyed these just as much. my uncle is the reverand and the makers.
Nice holiday, your worship?) What I want from a guttersnipe ravemonkey sort of band is a bassline so rubbery that you could do trampoline displays with it, lots of percussion, lyrics which are dim but witty, maybe a nod to some funk classic or other (in this case it's the horns from 'Low Rider' by War. Ask your superfly pimp-daddy), some nursery-rhyme finger-pointing in the verses and a big blissed-out chorus which is basically the verse with a different melody, but good.
