The Shamen – Pro gen. Label: Torso – Torso 12165. Format: Vinyl, 12", 45 RPM. Country: Netherlands. The Shamen were so bemused by them all that they released a triple-12", including all the different samples used for the song, so budding producers could stitch them all together in whatever way they wanted. This is the best version. Soulful, powerful, uplifting. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

The Shamen (/ˈʃeɪmɛn/, SHAY-men) were a Scottish electronic dance music band, formed in 1986 in Aberdeen. The founding members are Colin Angus (born 24 August 1961), Derek McKenzie (born 27 February 1964) and Keith McKenzie (born 30 August 1961). Peter Stephenson (born 1 March 1962) joined shortly after to take over on keyboards from Angus. Several other people were later in the band. Angus then teamed up with Will Sinnott, and together they found credibility as pioneers of rock/dance crossover.
Although upon its first release, Pro Gen only skimmed the surface of the Top 40, but the Shamen had decidedly veered towards making chart-oriented singles.
