Weird - I couldn't find this on YouTube, so here it is. How was this album so overlooked? It deserved recognition, and I'm sure Lindisfarne would've been.

Dingly Dell is a 1972 album by English rock band Lindisfarne. The album was produced by and mixed by Bob Johnston, who had also worked on the earlier No. 1 album Fog on the Tyne. However, the band were unhappy with the album, and remixed it themselves shortly before it was released. Dingly Dell was released in September 1972. It spent ten weeks in the UK album charts, entering at No. 5 and never going above this position.

Lindisfarne's third album, following two huge successes, was their make-or-break record, in terms of staying a major British act or achieving a major international following. It fell short of the mark, as far as the British rock press was concerned, and the group never recovered, splitting into two factions and breaking up soon after. Precisely what was wrong with Dingly Dell is unclear listening to the album today

Where did you see me last, was it down in Dingly Dell Could you really tell if it were I or just a passing butterfly. Where will you see me next, will you wear a ribbon in your hair ? Look at me but do not stare or I may break evaporate into the air.

Dingly Dell was released in September 1972 Two songs from the album were released as singles, "All Fall Down" and "Court in the Act". The former was a minor success, charting at No. 34 in the UK, while the latter failed to chart. On its original British release, it appeared in a matt pale sepia cardboard sleeve, blank apart from the name of the album and the band, with all the information contained on the inner sleeve and a sepia poster of the band inside  . A live version can be found on the group's Lindisfarne Live, recorded in 1971 and released in 1973, and as a bonus track on their third album, Dingly Dell. Elvis Costello singled out "Winter Song" as one of the greatest songs ever.
