David Bromberg (born September 19, 1945) is an American t, singer, and songwriter. An eclectic artist, Bromberg plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics, and the ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time. Bromberg has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep) and Bob Dylan.

Sideman Serenade contains some of Bromberg's best tunes; unfortunately many of these tunes are marred by an uninspired late 1980s production. Testify," "Top of the Slide," and "Watch Baby Fall," are three of the best songs Bromberg ever wrote and while "Testify" can be a showstopper in live performance, the studio version sounds rushed, particularly David's spoken part. Sadly, that rare combination of sidesplitting humor and gorgeous harmony present in live performances of this track is not readily apparent in the studio version.
