Thunderstone is the debut album by Finnish power metal band Thunderstone. Some versions of this album contain a bonus track which is a cover of the song "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden. Tools of Destruction was an excellent find and is a very satisfying album from start to finish. The band puts forth a great deal of effort and captivates their listeners with fantastic leads, solid drumming, keyboards, and my favourite part of the album, the vocals. Vocalist Pasi Rantanen has an excellent voice reminiscent to Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) and at times Ronnie James Dio (Dio). The album starts off with Tool of the Devil. Tool of the Devil was the first single and reached in the Finish charts. I’m not really a fan of moments such as this so it was disappointing. Another Time is a passable song, but by Thunderstone’s standards, you’d think they’d find a way to make it stick out. It isn’t a skippable track, but Another Time is one of the poorer songs on the album. The next song, Feed the Fire, returns us back the familiar power metal sound that the band has shown us earlier.

Now for some "Thunderstone" is considered a power metal band; while others choose to look at them as a thrash metal group which progressively became softer and more commercial. If both statements stood true at different periods in time then this album stands right in the middle. It is definitely melodic with huge choruses but at the same time extra heavy with destructive guitar riffs

Thunderstone's third album, Tools of Destruction, won't likely change anyone's perceptions of the group - not their supporters, nor their detractors. Status quo defined, its ten, expertly but routinely crafted classic metal anthems entertain no discernible stylistic change, no daring new direction, not even anything one might remotely term as innovative, but rather slot mindlessly and timelessly into heavy metal's most traditional sonic aesthetic (post-1980) with barely a clue to help denote their actual chronology within that time span.
