Edhochuli is the perfect band to put on when you have a shit-ton of pent up energy and are not quite sure what to do with it. Depending on what you’re in the mood for, the Pennsylvania four-piece has got you covered. Through six songs on their new album, Dream Warriors, the band drifts between long stretches of trippy instrumental onslaught before ending up in some weird prog-rock territory. Sometimes they’ll dip into metally riffs or hardcore breakdowns. There’s stonery psych-rock, old-fashioned screamo, and just about everything in between thrown into Edhochuli’s musical jumble.

Dream Warriors was a pretty cool Dokken song from 1987 and also the third movie in the Nightmare On Elm Street horror series. There doesn’t seem to be any hair metal or slasher film references here either. There’s a dragon on the cover, I guess that’s a little Dokken-esqe. I generally pride myself on being able to understand what an album’s all about, but I never got there with Dream Warriors. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. Edhochuli will likely only appeal to the narrow group of fans who enjoy both punk and prog-rock.
