Is it all 'punk'? Well, you'll find some bands here that are often categorised as 'new wave' or 'post-punk', but whatever label you want to use, I hope the music in the video has the spirit of the era. It's what the bands were doing at the time, regardless of whatever they became.

Clinton Walker is the Boswell of Australian punk. The Inner City Sound double CD complements his collection of frontline reportage from 1977 to 1982, with 47 tracks revealing a lost mesa of dirty punk-blues, jangling folk-rock, proto-hardcore and art-school cleverness, flourishing in splendid isolation from corrupting Anglo-American influences. Early outings for youthful Nick Cave-related combos the Young Charlatans, the Boys Next Door and the Birthday Party still stun, and Perth's the Scientists are clearly the source of the Seattle sound.
