The Canadian electronic music agitators have formally announce the record’s title OPERATOR and July 22 release date on Last Gang Records.

Operator, the duo’s first album since 2009’s Fist of God, fits right alongside Death from Above 1979’s The Physical World as a return to the sounds of the mid and early ’00s, embracing distorted electro-punk and eschewing the poppier sensibilities of their second L. Operator plays like a mea culpa to fans who were disappointed that MSTRKRFT didn't go in that direction to begin with: more than any other MSTRKRFT release, Operator sounds like the work of a band-one with punk DNA coursing through its army of analog synths.

Mstrkrft (stylized as MSTRKRFT; pronounced "master craft") is a Canadian electronic music duo from Toronto. The group was started in 2005 by Jesse F. Keeler of Death from Above and Al-P (Alex Puodziukas) formerly of the Mississauga, Ontario electropop group Girlsareshort. Al-P was also the producer for Death from Above 1979's album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine as well as several of (Jesse's former band) Black Cat records. 1.
