Lovesexy is the tenth studio album by American recording artist Prince. The album was released on May 10, 1988 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records, a little over a year after Prince's previous studio album, Sign o' the Times, which received critical praise and a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Lovesexy is the tenth full-length studio album by Prince. It was released worldwide in May 1988, 13 months after his previous album Sign O' The Times. As an artistic statement, the initial CD release of the album was not split into tracks, but was instead tracked as one single 45:07 track, designed to be listened to as a whole (track titles were included, however). Later releases of the CD split the album into the nine named tracks, however. While Sheila E. appears on drums for many of the album's tracks, the album was largely recorded solely by Prince. His full live band appeared on No, and some band members appeared in minor roles on Alphabet S. Anna Stesia, Lovesexy and Positivity. The album marks Cat and Boni Boyer's first appearances on a Prince album. A first sequence of the album was done on 21 January 1988.

It's nearly impossible to judge Lovesexy as anything but a hastily assembled substitute for the withdrawn Black Album, which does the record a disservice. An exactingly sequenced song cycle - the compact disc didn't have index markings to separate the individual tracks - Lovesexy is quite a different record than not only The Black Album, but anything else Prince had recorded. Where Dirty Mind was single-minded in its lust, Lovesexy connects the carnal with spiritual, and the calmness of the music reflects this outlook.

I think most of us agree that Lovesexy was the last album from the "Golden Age of Prince". mainly because the test pressing version is so strong. but it's basically the same as the released version, so I'm not cheating too much
