Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena was a multi-purpose arena at Exposition Park, in the University Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. It was located next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and just south of the campus of the University of Southern California, which managed and operated both venues under a master lease agreement with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission

The Sports Arena has long been Springsteen's venue of choice for arena-level shows in . going back to his band's first shows there in 1980. Over the years, Springsteen has played 36 dates at the Sports Arena, or at the adjacent Memorial Coliseum, to some 846,000 fans in total.

The Sports Arena was the dump that jumps and the joint that don’t disappoint in the words of The Boss. If the Sports Arena wasn’t earthquake retrofitted for his four-plus hour shows, it didn’t matter because the bolts were coming loose anyway. Somehow it had the foundation to survive encore. Maybe Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and the Grateful Dead were also Sports Arena headliners, but Springsteen challenged the place each night to see which would be standing last. Year after year, it was the place to be for the . City High School basketball championships. Football Club press conference was winding down, we went over to the Sports Arena’s administration offices to see if we could have a look around inside. A receptionist said we needed an appointment. No one was around for personal tours.
