Redirected from Afterglow (Chvrches song)). Every Open Eye is the second studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches, released on 25 September 2015 by Virgin EMI Records and Goodbye Records. Self-produced, it is the band's follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album, The Bones of What You Believe (2013). The album title comes from a lyric in the song "Clearest Blue".

So how do Chvrches (pronounced Churches ) and their driving force, frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, respond to these incursions on their territory with second album Every Open Eye? By broadening their sound enough to match the charts’ more anthemic, populist version of ’80s revivalism but, thankfully, without sacrificing their own character.

Chvrches have announced new album Every Open Eye, the follow-up to 2013's The Bones of What You Believe. The album was recorded at their Alucard Studios in Glasgow, and according to a listing on the Australian retailer Sanity, it's out September 25 via Universal. Submitted By Anachronistic. Because the album was written over such a long period of time, it’s about the goods and the bads, the beginnings and ends. Personally, I’m in a good place right now, but there’s definitely anti-love songs on there as well. Leave a Trace is the middle finger mic-drop.

Three strident synth-pop bangers open the second Chvrches album and lay bare the Scottish trio’s intent: here they are doubling down on the formula that got them where they are today. It’s an assured follow-up to their US-conquering debut, The Bones of What You Believe, picking out its predecessor’s stadium-pop moments and turning up the intensity without ever overselling its charm. It ends with Afterglow: the hangover after the party, and it’s Chvrches at their prettiest.

Despite that I feel the "Every Open Eye" album has a softer feel on its musical side, it definitely doesn't start that way. "Never Ending Circles" gets right in the listeners face. The keyboards bell out at the start, yet quiet themselves perfectly to let Lauren take center. I think Every Open Eye breaks that up a bit and has more diverse emotions, and even a taste of a "hopeful" mood, which is cool because I feel it helps the songs stand out from each other. It's a catchy album, the beats and songs are well put-together, Lauren Mayberry improved a ton as a singer with far more dynamics in her style, and the backup vox improved too.
