The Lilac Time is a British alternative folk-rock band that was originally formed in Herefordshire, England by Stephen Duffy, his brother Nick Duffy and their friend Michael Weston in 1986. The band's name was taken from a line in the Nick Drake song "River Man". Since its formation, The Lilac Time has gone through various line-up changes, with the Duffy brothers as mainstays. The band's activity has intertwined with Stephen Duffy's solo and songwriting career.

That's not to say that The Lilac Time is a depressing album; how could it be with Duffy's impeccable grasp on a pop chorus and the band's dedication to rolling folk revelries? While much of the album leans toward nature imagery, expressed mostly through metaphor, there's an equal dose of traveling songs to boot. One imagines a vintage 1800s steam train roaring through green pastures and lush vineyards during "Return to Yesterday," an upbeat song that reminisces about England's past and wonders about its future.

Love, Me" by Collin Raye. A beloved 1991 hit from the album All I Can Be. It is one of the top country love songs of all time because it has a little bit of, everlasting love and family bonding. I Cross My Heart" by George Strait. This gem from the 1992 Pure Country soundtrack is proof that Strait knows his way around the heart. I can feel my love for you/Growing stronger day by day" is just one of the standout lines from this rockin' ballad, which is from Whitesnake's 1987 self-titled album. It speaks to anyone who has found true love for the very first time, and the guitar solo is sure to pluck at your heartstrings. (I Just) Died in Your Arms" by Cutting Crew. The ultimate 1980s sing-a-long for weddings, it was featured on the 1986 Broadcast album and rose to number one on the charts for two consecutive weeks.

Carey was told the song was a "career-maker" and despite her protests, the presses were stopped and the song was added to her debut release. 17.
