Roy Harper followed HQ with another superb rock-oriented classic, 1977's interestingly titled Bullinamingvase. The album will forever be remembered for its controversial track "Watford Gap," with lyrics that supposedly defamed the service station of Watford Gap. Harper ran into legal problems when the station owners voiced their extreme distaste of the song, resulting in the record company's removal of the composition from the album. It was replaced with the light but solid "Breakfast with Yo. Both songs are included in the 1996 reissue.

Bullinamingvase is the ninth studio album by English folk, rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Roy Harper. It was first released in 1977 by Harvest Records. In the USA the album was released as One Of Those Days In England. The album features a mix of musicians and instruments, including the Vauld Symphony Orchestra (named after the Marden, Herefordshire farm Harper owned and recorded in at the time). The CD release (Science Friction HUCD021) has been remastered with SNS 20-bit digital supermapping. Originally the album contained the song Watford Gap which contained somewhat disparaging lyrics concerning the Watford Gap service station, a motorway service area situated between junctions 16 and 17 of the M1 Motorway, near Watford Gap, in Northamptonshire, England. Harper claimed the food was junk, absolute junk.

Roy Harper always had moments of pure grandeur and other times inconsistency. For me 'Bullnamingvase' is one such album. The album opens with the very English "One of Those days in England" (part one I guess!) which canters along at a medium pace, overall a pleasant enough track but nothing earth shattering. The follow up song is beautiful "These Last Days" as is the concise "Naked Flame". with Harper's poetical lust in abundance  . Nice to listen to but I forget them too easily. I recommend you to listen to the 10-part epic, though. That is truly brilliant stuff.
