Kreator - Violent Revolution (2001).
Violent Revolution signals Kreator returning to its thrash metal roots that ensured their 1980s success. To start off, this album is much more aggressive and technical than their efforts from the late 1990s. However, do not expect another brutal album such as Pleasure to Kill. The vocals of Mille Petrozza are excellent sounding pissed off about the world. Violent Revolution is an excellent comeback album for Kreator with almost immaculate songwriting and performance but hindered only slightly by a sterile production. The inclusion of Sami Yli-Sirnio is a fantastic decision giving them a melodic sound akin to that of Coma of Souls - which is a very unique and highly regarded thrash metal album. While this album may not be the best among the highly regarded albums Kreator have written, it certainly holds its ground in a very stable manner in Kreator's more than 25-year discography.
Violent Revolution is the tenth studio album by the German thrash metal band Kreator. It was released on September 25, 2001. With this album, the band returned to their 1980s thrash metal style. Violent Revolution Q&A. Producers Andy Sneap. Writers Mille Petrozza. After almost a decade of musical experimentation with their metal sound (starting with Renewal), with this album the band returned to their 1980s thrash metal style, although it does make use of Gothenburg metal elements. Violent Revolution was also the first Kreator album to feature guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö.
Violent Revolution (2001) by Kreator. Genres: Thrash Metal Members: Mille Petrozza, Sami Yli-Sirnio, Christian Geisler, Jurgen "Ventor" Reil. A slight revamp of sound; Kreator actually reached out to their early Thrash roots. It therefore shows a fusion of old Thrash and slightly groovy Metal, making a whole new sound for Kreator.

Violent Revolution’ is widely regarded as Kreator’s big return to Thrash Metal. Stilistically, this is correct. After the – in my eyes – succesful experimentation on ‘Renewal’ and ‘Outcast’ and the disasters known as ‘Cause For Conflict’ and ‘Endorama’, ‘Violent Revolution’ is a return to the Thrash compositions they are known for. For me, there is a strong sense of ambivalence about that though. It’s nothing compared to ‘Coma Of Souls’ and the album sounds horribly uninspired at some points.
