Saga is the first studio album by the Canadian progressive rock band Saga and was originally released 8 April 1978. True to the album's legendary status among the fans, there are no Saga concerts without material from the debut. Nearly three decades after they started, Saga have derived very little from their main mission of being one of Canada's eminent prog rock bands. Unfortunately, while their sound and quality of production have changed and evolved with technology, their songwriting style and dynamics really haven't. That's not to say Network isn't a strong effort; on the contrary, it's their most focused and polished work in years.

The album features a noticeably heavier sound than many other records in the band's discography and a speedy, at times almost rap-like vocal delivery on "Keep It Reel" A two-disc version of Network was released on November 8, 2005, comprising the original CD and a DVD containing a . mix of the original album.

Nevertheless, Saga has shown a great ability of surviving and not giving up. And Network is a proud result of that; their best album since Pleasure & The Pain from 1997. There is a new drummer on board, Christian Simpson, and it/s great to finally have a Saga-album with live drums on it. Steve Negus, as everyone knows, didn/t touch a real drumkit in all his years in Saga. Simpson/s drumming adds a lot of real and raw sound to it all, but maybe most important; the lack of energy on their recent albums is absolutely present on Network
