Joe Bouchard joined in the me BÖC in the summer of 1970, although he had already been jamming and performing occasionally with the band for a few years. Originally a guitar player, Joe took up bass for the formative BÖC after the departure of Andy Winters. Joe is skilled on many instruments including keyboards and trumpet. Joe’s songwriting contributions often dealt with otherworldly themes, such as Nosferatu and Light Years of Love, but Joe’s signature piece was most definitely Hot Rails To Hell.

The album found the band returning to their hard rock roots, and although both of the Bouchard brothers and guitarist Roeser all got lead vocal turns, it was the band's first album since Secret Treaties to feature lead singer Eric Bloom singing the majority of the tracks. In a 1976 interview published in the . music magazine ZigZag, Pearlman told the story explaining the origin of the band's name was an anagram of "Cully Stout Beer".

O’er to the Bouchard’s first true solo album (of which you are now behind the back of, and possibly gleefully spinning as you read), and we find Joe sophisticated and maturing into what even he must admit are his late-mid years of a career that causes glad bemusement to himself and others.
