Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash is the sixteenth album in total by the singer-songwriter Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1963 (see 1963 in music). This album collects tracks from singles and an EP released between 1959 and 1963, Cash's first years on the Columbia label, and marked the first release of these tracks in LP format, with the exception of "I Still Miss Someone," which had previously appeared on the 1958 album The Fabulous Johnny Cash.

Technically, Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash isn't a greatest-hits collection, but it does contain a number of his greatest performances and singles, including "Ring of Fire," "I Still Miss Someone," and "The Rebel - Johnny Yuma. These are supported by solid originals ("Forty Shades of Green," "I'd Still Be There," "Tennessee Flat-Top Box") and covers (" Peace in the Valley," "Bonanza"), which help make the record one of Cash's best.

Ring of Fire was the first album when Billboard debuted their Country Album Chart on January 11, 1964. It was certified Gold on February 11, 1965, earning him his first Gold LP. This 1963 release is not a greatest-hits package, as the subtitle would have you believe, although the title cut did top the country charts. LONG TIME Johnny Cash fan and this is an excellent album. The stereo sound is as close to an LP sound as I have found. The songs are some of his best that I can remember from that time period. His two hymms are really as close gospel music as I have heard in a long time. Johnny Yuma, the Rebel, I remember from the TV show. 2 guys but they sound so good. You NEED this CD if you are a true Johnny Cash fan. Can't help but play "Bonanza" over and over.
