Days full of rain, sky's coming down again I get so tired of these same old blues, same old song Baby, it won't be long 'fore I be tying on. My flying shoes, flying shoes Till I be tying on my flying shoes. Spring only sighed, summer had to be satisfied Fall is a feeling that I just can't lose I'd like to stay, maybe watch a winter day Turn the green water to white and blue.
This is another stalwart collection from Townes Van Zandt, and not a dud in the bunch. The melodies here are strong, the lyrics full of Van Zandt's razor sharp insight, and the production is sparse and to the point, bringing to mind the inconspicuous polish of High, Low and in Between. The feel here is a balance between folk and country, with Van Zandt's voice and guitar up front, letting the songs speak for themselves. The tunes are full of heartbreak and hopelessness, making it a great album to put on during, or right after, the breakup of an affair

Townes Van Zandt is the third studio album by the American singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt, released in September 1969 by Poppy Records. It includes re-recordings of four songs from his 1968 debut album, including the first serious song he ever wrote, "Waitin' Around To Die". Townes Van Zandt was recorded at Bradley's Barn in Nashville. The album consists of ten originals and showcase Van Zandt's poetic lyrics and trademark, uncluttered fingerpicking.
Flyin' Shoes is an album released by folk/country singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt in 1978. It was his first album of original material in five years and was produced by Chips Moman. Many of the songs that appeared on Flyin' Shoes were originally recorded in 1973 for an album with the working title 7 Come 11. The album was not released, however, due to a dispute between producer Jack Clement and Poppy Records founder Kevin Eggers.
