Fauna Mapping is the lush result of Jonny Nash and Lindsay Todd’s jollies in Bali, 2017, where they immersed themselves in the island’s gamelan music, indigenous culture and abundantly diverse natural environments.

Island Of The Gods will release a joint album from Jonny Nash and Lindsay Todd in November. Fauna Mapping consists mainly of found sounds and field recordings from the island of Bali, where they produced all 12 tracks. They added to that a variety of their own electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as clips from Balinese musicians they recorded. Nash, who runs the label Melody As Truth and plays in Gaussian Curve, and Todd, who runs Firecracker Recordings, aimed to "avoid the well-trodden cliches of the 'exotic,'" the label says. Instead they attempt to achieve.

Jonny Nash’s progression from melodic spacerock explorer to a master of exotic texture and mood has been fascinating. This collaboration with Lindsay Todd (Firecracker Recordings) is the most extreme example yet of this tendency towards a more abstract and evocative sound.
