Gods of Violence is the fourteenth studio album by German thrash metal band Kreator, released on January 27, 2017. It is the band's first studio album in almost five years since 2012's Phantom Antichrist, marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career. A music video for the album's title track was released on November 18, 2016.

Gods of Violence is the fourteenth studio album by the German thrash metal band Kreator. It’s the band’s first studio album in almost five years since 2012’s Phantom Antichrist. This break marked the longest gap between two studio albums in the band’s career. Gods of Violence ist das vierzehnte Studioalbum der Essener Thrash Metal-Band Kreator. Der Vorgänger Phantom Antichrist wurde 2012 veröffentlicht, womit diese fünf Jahre den längsten Abstand zwischen zwei Alben seit Bestehen der Gruppe bedeuten. Die Kernbotschaft des Albums ist, dass man gegenüber allem Schlechten in der Welt seinen Optimismus bewahren sollte. Die Band äußerte sich in außerdem in einem Interview mit dem österreichischen Magazin Stormbringer zum Album.

Gods of Violence" is technically flawless: as for thrash, the instrumental part is close to the ideal, Mille Petrozza and Sami Yli-Sirniö’s teamwork is so much harmonious that sounds like a guitar dialogue in which both parties express their thoughts by retrieving music and virtuoso develop content of distributed between them melody. Jens Bogren’s production is a crystal clear that, however, doesn’t play into the hands of the album: the rebellious nature of thrash is abhorrent by such starched sterility in tracks.
Kreator’s 1985 debut Endless Pain arrived two years after Metallica fired thrash metal's first shot with Kill 'Em All- something of an eternity in the formative stages of a genre. Kreator immediately stood out, though, with their static-y guitars, frontman/guitarist Mille Petrozza's inimitable bark, and drummer Jürgen Ventor Reil’s distinct combination of precision and primal savagery. So it didn’t take long for the German thrash outfit to gain ground on their elite predecessors with landmark albums like 1989’s Extreme Aggression, 1990’s Coma of Souls, and 1992’s Renewal
