Disillusion (撃剣霊化 Gekken reika) is the fourth studio album by Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. It was recorded, mixed and mastered in London, England, in 1983 and released at the beginning of 1984. The sound engineer chosen for the recording sessions was the expert Julian Mendelsohn, who had previously worked with acts like Yes, Elton John, Jimmy Page and Bob Marley. The original Japanese version was licensed and released by Music for Nations in the UK and Roadrunner Records in Europe

Loudness is the tenth studio album by Japanese band Loudness. It was released in 1992 only in Japan, after the band had terminated the recording contracts with US labels. Original bass player Masayoshi Yamashita was replaced with Taiji Sawada and the American vocalist Mike Vescera with former Ezo singer Masaki Yamada. The sound of this album is much more aggressive and the rhythms much faster than the preceding offerings from the band

The English version opened the album with the instrumental "Anthem (Loudness Overture)" by Akira Takasaki, which was missing in the original Japanese release. Studio album by. Loudness. Recorded in London, "Disillusion" featured the band's most killer production to date courtesy of Julian Mendelsohn(who had previously worked with a dynamic array of artists such as Yes, Jimmy Page, Elton John, and Bob Marley)who along with the band managed to perfectly capture the power of Niihara's vocals, the catchiness of the songs, the savage beauty. In conclusion, there are as I mentioned multiple versions of "Disillusion". A Japanese version and English version. The only real difference is the addition of the intro "Anthem(Loudness Overture)" on the English version. Vocally, due to Minoru Niihara's heavy accent, the two versions sound very similar(the lyrics on the Japanese version are a blending of usually Japanese verses and English choruses).

So it was that their fourth effort, Disillusion, which they had originally recorded mostly in Japanese, was recut with English lyrics to make it a tad more appetizing for Western audiences.
