The Complete Studio Recordings of The Miles Davis Quintet 1965–1968 is a box set of six CDs covering the work of Miles Davis and his critically acclaimed second great quintet which featured Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. The box set includes all songs from, as well as some rehearsal and alternative takes, the albums . Miles Smiles, Sorcerer, Nefertiti, Miles in the Sky and the quintet tracks from Filles de Kilimanjaro and Water Babies

There's little argument that the quintet Miles Davis led between 1965 and 1968 was one of the classic combos in the history of jazz. By teaming with the adventurous young musicians Wayne Shorter (tenor sax), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Tony Williams (drums), Davis pushed mainstream jazz toward the avant-garde, expanding on the modal jazz he inaugurated with Kind of Blue and laid the groundwork for fusion.

The complete Columbia Studio recordings of the Miles Davis Quintet. Recorded at the Columbia Studio B, NYC, the 30th Street Studio, NYC, and the Columbia Studios LA between January 20, 1965 and June 21, 1968. On track 5-2 'I Have A Dream (Rehearsal Take)' either George Benson or Joe Beck is added on guitar. The Quintet never completed a take of either of these Hancock compositions (5-1, 5-2) and never returned to them. originally released 1965, complete album (1-1 to 1-7)

Dave Holland Quintet. The Complete Science Fiction Sessions.

Joe Beck's electric guitar was only a tentative addition to the quintet, but its effect here, after more than three hours of straight acoustic jazz, is almost startling. Traditional jazz purists will of course hear this as the Beginning of the End. And doctrinaire Prog Rock fans may find themselves well out of their comfort zone, always a good place for any true Proghead to be.
