Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall is a live album by American jazz musician Miles Davis. Subtitled The Legendary Performances of May 19, 1961, it was released by Columbia Records as CL 1812 in monaural and CS 8612 as "electronically re-channeled for stereo. This live performance features Davis with his regular quintet and also accompanied by Gil Evans and his 21-piece orchestra.

In 1998, Columbia/Legacy reissued Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall as a double-disc set that contained all of the music performed at the concert from May 19, 1961. Davis is captured with his transitional small combo featuring Hank Mobley, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb, as well as with the Gil Evans Orchestra. It was one of only two concerts Davis and Evans performed together, and that alone makes the album necessary for collectors, but the music itself is terrific.

Vol. 2 contains the second Blue Note session, while Vol. 1 focused on the first and third. This 1953 date was the most inspired, overtly beboppish of Davis' three Blue Note sessions - an ambitious showcase for modern jazz's greatest composers (. Johnson, Ray Brown, Bud Powell, Jimmy Heath, Walter Fuller, and Dizzy Gillespie), and a remarkable rhythm section (drummer Art Blakey, bassist Percy Heath, and the obscure pianist Gil Coggins).

The album closes with two more up-tempo trad-jazz numbers, this time given an extra kick by Gil's 'no longer classical sounding, but swingin like crazy' orchestra. This is an interesting record for those seeking the roots of jazz fusion. Miles was already pushing the boundaries of jazz in many directions at once when he first recorded these tunes in the late 50s, and even more so when he re-presented them in 61.

The two side-long tracks on this LP, and two others, were recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey, on December 24, 1954.

Miles Davis, Vol. 3 (BLP 5040) is a 1954 10 inch LP album by Miles Davis. It consists of the third and last of three sessions recorded for Blue Note Records. Several years later, Davis would once again record at Blue Note, but as a sideman on Cannonball Adderley's Somethin' Else (BLP 1595). The six tracks were recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey, on March 6, 1954 For the session he used exactly the same quartet he would again record with seven days later for side 2 of the Miles Davis Quartet LP (PRLP 161), released by Prestige
