Out of Time is the seventh studio album by American alternative rock band . released on March 8, 1991 by Warner Bros. With Out of Time, . s status grew from that of a cult band to a massive international act. The record topped the album sales charts in both the .

REM produced "Out Of Time" with Scott Litt, and it's fully amplified, somewhat heavily orchestrated, and displays production values that were burnished to a glossy sheen  . Stipe definitely has a presence on Out of Time but he's featured much less here on any other . All in all, it's a beautiful album with a few flaws - I never personally cared much for "Low" or "Shiny Happy People," and there are some songs that I thought were just okay, like "Radio Song" and "Texarkana.

The supporting tour for Green exhausted . records captured a stripped-down, live sound, Out of Time was lush with sonic detail, featuring string sections, keyboards, mandolins, and cameos from everyone from rapper KRS-One to the B-52's' Kate Pierson.

Out of Time is a weird entry in . s discography, although in fairness the same can be said of almost every album . released during that stretch. Numb from a year on the road, the band largely cast aside the usual electric guitars to fiddle with other instruments, most prominently the mandolin, which Peter Buck claimed he was still teaching himself when he stumbled upon the riff for Losing My Religion. Twenty-five years later, that single remains the most perfect pop song . ever crafted, but it was hardly a fluke.

Out of Time is a fun album, and is probably there most popular album. While this album is fun, it can also be boring in many ways. added additional members to this album to make it more fun and exciting. The B-52's Kate Pierson makes an appearance in a few tracks adding some female vocals. On Radio Song the rapper KRS-One raps and ads in some smooth back up vocals. ads in some guests to give the music some spice it really doesn’t do too much. Sure the music is fun, but in a different way. I have always liked . s ambitions is impressive, and the record sounds impeccable, its sunny array of pop and folk songs as refreshing as Michael Stipe's decision to abandon explicitly political lyrics for the personal.
