Sleater-Kinney were known for their feminist, left-leaning politics, and were an integral part of the riot grrrl and indie rock scenes in the Pacific Northwest. Studio in Portland, Oregon and John & Stu’s Place in Seattle, Washington. Upon release, All Hands on the Bad One reached on the US Billboard Top 200 chart and on the Heatseekers Albums chart
All Hands on the Bad One. Sleater-Kinney. Released May 2, 2000. All Hands on the Bad One Tracklist. 1. The Ballad of a Ladyman Lyrics. 3. All Hands on the Bad One Lyrics. 4. Youth Decay Lyrics. The songs that comprised All Hands On The Bad One were full of proclamations and affirmations. Once again, we were in conversation first and foremost with ourselves and with each other. We sang about the experience of playing music as if it were brand new. But for the first time we were reacting to specific events and politics instead of doling out diffuse rage. All Hands on the Bad One Q&A.
Sleater-Kinney and Fugazi reside alone in the top echelon of American punk rock. They make darling twins. Both bands continue to grow in talent, despite the jaded whines of old schoolers. Both feature dueling guitars that bobble complex, inventive lines like ping-pong paddles. And Sleater-Kinney don't even need a bassist to lock the groove. Both can raise the hair on the back of your neck, the ass out your seat, and the volume on your stereo. Like a David Mamet character rewrite over a Joel Schumacher script, Corin reveals greater character depth than ever before. All Hands on the Bad One finds Sleater-Kinney at their most fist-pumping (on the title track), lovely ("Leave You Behind"), longing ("The Swimmer"), and bratty ("The Professional"). Janet Weiss hammers harder, Carrie Brownstein smothers with perfect harmonies while digging deeper on the E string, and Corin grabs your aorta and strokes.

Similar to other Sleater-Kinney albums, the lyrics of All Hands on the Bad One feature personal, political, and social themes. The first song, "The Ballad of the Ladyman", is a deliberate attempt to mock those who misunderstand the band. Tucker said that the song is "almost making fun of how people see us, how people see what you're supposed. People are laughing in the background because she's wearing a bunny suit. All Hands on the Bad One reached number 177 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart, on the Heatseekers Albums chart, and on the KEXP Top 9. Album Chart for 2000. The band promoted the album with a tour across North.
On a Sleater-Kinney album! Imagine telling a fan in 1996 that (well, imagine telling a fan in 2013 that they'd reunite). Anyway, the repeating chorus of "all hands on the bad oneee" will stay in your head for awhile, as it should. Her tone has never sounded better either, and the clarity of every riff is mesmerizing. The band doesn't kick it into overdrive every 5 seconds anymore, and for good reason. The show of restraint shows another side of Sleater-Kinney, a musically aware one that uses its energy in phases for maximum effect. And don't worry, the aggression's still here.
