This is an album based on field recordings of construction sites that i made between 2001 and 2009 whilst living and working in one of the most vibrant renovation areas of Berlin. The idea for this project came along when i realised that my own, mostly improvised electronic music started to imitate the sounds and structures of the construction sites that i was surrounded by for so many years, up to 15 hours a day, 6 days a week and which drove.

Berlin based Schneider TM has built an album from the sounds of the city's gentrification. Wyndham Wallace (words and photography) attends one of its first live performance. y the time Dirk Dresselhaus, aka Schneider TM, moved apartment a couple of years back, it was into a newly constructed, environmentally friendly building in the north of Berlin's already gentrified Prenzlauerberg district. He had worked with the architect to ensure that his apartment would suit his needs, and the cellar contained a soundproofed room that he could use as a studio.

Today his latest album Construction Sounds will see the light of the day. Released through the notable german Bureau B label. You’re originally from Bielefeld, but you’re considered part of the Berlin scene. Your musical style as Schneider TM has developed a lot over the years. How would you explain this development into the noise genre? On the one hand I had been making a lot of sound music before with Ilpo Väisänen from Pan Sonic. We were using instruments and field recordings so I had been intensively involved with this type of music for quite a while. The idea for the record came from being constantly around these construction sites.
