The discography of Pete Seeger, an American folk singer, consists of 52 studio albums, 23 compilation albums, 22 live albums, and 31 singles. Seeger's musical career started in 1940 when he joined The Almanac Singers. He stayed with the group for two years until he was drafted into the Army. After the end of World War II, Seeger helped found an organization known as People's Songs, along with the influential folk music magazine People's Songs Bulletin.

On his previous Columbia Records LP, Pete Seeger Now, recorded and released in 1968, Pete Seeger reflected the desperation felt by left-wing activists in the wake of that tumultuous year, as "the Movement" (a combination of Civil Rights and anti-Vietnam War advocates) suffered the successive body blows of the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King, J. and Senator Robert F. Kennedy; the Chicago police riot during the Democratic National Convention; and the election of pro-war candidate Richard Nixon as president.

This two-disc set collects Pete Seeger's final three LPs for Columbia Records, 1968's Now, 1969's Young vs. Old, and 1971's Rainbow Race, along with the banned and never officially issued single "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" from 1970, and what emerges is a pretty well-rounded portrait of Seeger's various sides as songwriter, song interpreter, live performer, and cultural and political barometer
