One-woman act Ill Ease (Elizabeth Sharp) has pages of press clippings that include raves for her past albums from Magnet, Pulse, Punk Planet, Alternative Press, and CMJ Weekly. But this should be of little interest to anyone, except perhaps those who dig extremely repetitive, droning indie-pop. Almost nothing happens here. One-woman band Elizabeth Sharp is the skewed mastermind behind Live at the Holiday Sin, her third full-length release under the name Ill Ease. The title is inspired by the origin of the recording: Sharp recorded everything inside a room of a rundown motel near Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ultimately, for all their sonic innovations, the songs on Holiday Sin come off like incomplete sketches. Sharp clearly has a lot of talent, but it won't result in a truly great album until she's figured out how to work around her weaknesses or at least better integrate them into her sound. ill ease live at the holiday sin. Ill Ease was actually a one-woman band created by Elizabeth Sharp. Sharp was born in Maryland on December 14, 1971. So, Sharp became the sole member of Ill Ease. The project debuted with Live at the Gate in 1998, followed by Circle Line Tours in 1999 and Live at the Holiday Sin in 2002. The latter, recorded in an Atlantic City motel room, upped Ill Ease's profile considerably. Too Pure noticed, signing Sharp/Ill Ease and issuing Exorcist in August '04. ~ Bradley Torreano.
