The Violet Hour is the second studio album by English indie pop band The Clientele. The album was released on 8 July 2003 by Merge Records and Pointy Records. It is the band's first proper full-length album composed primarily of new material. Haunted Melody" was released as a single in October 2002, backed with "Fear of Falling". House on Fire" was released as a single in June 2003, backed with "Jamaican Rum Rhumba" (Take Two) and "Breathing Soft and Low".

Violet is just another word for purple, right? Not quite. The colors may look the same, but in terms of physics, they're totally different. Related: Pink Wasn't Always A "Girly" Color. Violet activates the blue and red cones-the blue cones a lot, the red cones a little less. Purple, on the other hand, hits your eyes in the same way our brown example did above. It's a combination of the spectral colors blue and red. Rather than activating blue and red cones in a given ratio, purple combines the cone ratio for blue with the cone ratio for red to come up with an entirely new color.

Well, Slumber pretty much picked up the sport by the time Rapture was passing out their crown. For sure there’s a large emphasis on the keyboards, which play a melody to drive the songs into a more spiritual, otherworldly atmosphere, but it’s easily the harmonized leads that transcend the music beyond any human level. The growls are excellent and never too high in the mix but also never too low. As far as instruments go, nothing sticks out as really amazingly technical but everything adds to the atmosphere.

After the clatter of their first album failed to bring them a wide audience, the New York Dolls hired producer Shadow Morton to work on the follow-up, Too Much Too Soon. The differences are apparent right from the start of the ferocious opener, "Babylon. Not only are the guitars cleaner, but the mix is dominated by waves of studio sound effects and female backing vocals.
