Horrendous Disc is the third studio album by Christian rock band Daniel Amos. Originally recorded in 1978 for Maranatha! Music, it was not released until 1981 when it was issued by Larry Norman's Solid Rock Records, weeks before the release of the band's fourth album. The album is noted as a departure from the band's early country rock sound. DA had almost completely abandoned the country sound of their first record by late 1977 and early 1978, when this album was recorded with co-producer Mike Stone.

Alarma! is the fourth studio album by Christian rock band Daniel Amos, issued on Newpax Records in April 1981. It is the first album in their ¡Alarma! Chronicles series and one of the earliest records in the Christian alternative rock genre. Alarma!, released weeks after the band's the Beatles- and The Beach Boys-influenced Horrendous Disc, took a decidedly new wave direction along the lines of Elvis Costello or Talking Heads.
Horrendous Disc marks Daniel Amos’s full retreat from country-rock. Had it come out in 1978, as planned, it might have offered fans an intermediate step between the artsy country-rock of 1977’s Shotgun Angel and the angular new wave of Alarma!–but instead, the gap between those albums would be felt very strongly and turned many fans off. Horrendous Disc Q&A. Producers Daniel Amos & Mike Stone. Writers Jerry Chamberlain, Mark Cook & Terry Scott Taylor. Backing Vocals Ed McTaggart, Jerry Chamberlain, Mark Cook & 2 more. Bass Marty Dieckmeyer.
The album Horrendous Disc by Daniel Amos was a very popular early 80's CCM album. While it was released in 1981 it has a strong mid 70's sound. The reason for this is that it was actually recorded in 1978. It was rejected by Maranatha Music and ended up in the hands of Solid Rock Records. For reasons only known to Larry Norman (owner of Solid Rock at the time) it was not released until 1981. It played a part in a messy situation that ended up with Daniel Amos at Newpax Records. All that said it was a well received album with the single "I Love You" still very popular.

There is a spooky concept-album-type finish with the title track - these are the same guys who did Alarma! and the "end times" saga at the end of Shotgun Angel. A great album all around.
