In stock now for same day shipping. ic's 1978 "anti-tour", in which they deliberately played very small venues and proudly explained to journalists how much money they were losing, has become the stuff of legend. Full of extended P-funk wig-outs, extended interpretations of familiar hits and genuinely thrilling performances, it's as atmospheric and exciting as you'd expect.

James Wesley Jackson, sparking a joint on stage, begins his introductory speech: Never mix LSD with Chittlins or you will get high on the Ho. .He puts the joint out for a moment, then continues, I pledge Groove Allegiance to the United Funk of Funkadelica, for which it stands one nation under a groove, a divine rhythm for the liberation of mindsight. You will be hearing ‘burning down the house’ - that means burn down the ghettos of the mind. Think! It’s not illegal ye.And the band is introduced.

The history of George Clinton ’s Parliament Funkadelic is long, arduous and contains several name changes. Even so, in 1978, the group-definitively called c, the merging of two of Clinton’s projects-was arguably at its peak, pioneering a fusion of funk, soul and rock that has seen no equal in the decades since. This rare footage of the band, recorded on Nov. 6, 1978, features jam sessions that range from seven to 25 minutes long
