Okolitza Tamburitzans Pueblo Colorado. Founder: George Miketa - he was a Navy veteran who worked at CF&I for more than 40 years - hardly the profile of a man whose life was filled with music. But he, too, was a gentle soul with a joyful heart and helped create the Okolitza Tamburitzans, a musical group that plays the songs and dances the dances of Croatia, Slovenia and the region. The Okolitza Tamburitzans, a parent sponsored group, was organized in 1975 to preserve and perpetuate the Croatian culture through music, song and dance. We are a non-profit organization affiliated with The Croatian Federal Union of America and Junior Cultural Federation of Pennsylvania. Our fundraisers consist of polka dances, picnics featuring traditional food and music, and biannual strudel bake sales. We perform in authentic costumes for dinner meetings, conventions, and special events in Pueblo and the surrounding areas

The Tamburitzans (Formerly the Duquesne University Tamburitzans) are the longest-running multicultural song and dance company in the United States. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the company's members are full-time students who receive scholarships for their activities.
