The Generation Killer.

Breakthrough is the first studio album by American alternative-hip hop producer The Gaslamp Killer. It was released on Brainfeeder on September 17, 2012. The album features guest appearances from Gonjasufi, Daedelus, and Samiyam, among others. While The Gaslamp Killer's earlier work was characterized by a heavy use of samples, on Breakthrough he chose to work with musicians to recreate the "vibe" of particular tracks.

In fact, this new material effectively overshadowed the group's older songs, making tracks such as "The Generation Killer" seem immature and amateurish in comparison. Dan Morteo's powerful vocals showed unprecedented promise for this young band, and are solid hard rock tracks that could hold their own with alternative metal's royalty. Unfortunately, Madhops' desire to continually reinvent itself prevented the group from ever ascending to the national level, and the band lost steam in 2001, never again rising to the minor peaks they achieved with this release.
