What is most remarkable is the way Kelly fits into this particular blend of the Miles band.

The Blackhawk sets are a reminder of the power Miles had in challenging musicians and the audience to redefine the art of jazz. 5 people found this helpful. In my opinion this is Miles best live album because of the selection and consistency of the songs. It is not "Kind of Blue" live, even though the band plays, for example "So what". Mobley, the sax player has a completely different vibe than Coltrane, who is not on this album. However, the rythmn section is incredibly tight and the sound quality is excellant. It really sounds like a band that knows exactly what its doing. The full set formats, on both nights, helps give insight as to what it must have been like to see Miles live.
