Nashville trio Simo are gearing up to release their new LP Let Love Show The Way, but if you want to check it out early you can catch the exclusive premiere here on The Independent. It’s an eclectic, vibrant selection of songs that navigate the listener through the landscape of the Deep South, led by frontman and guitarist JD Simo who is a phenomenal presence on the record. Something of a connoisseur when it comes to vintage gear, Simo really gets that authentic, gritty noise into Let Love Show The Way: the guitar he plays on every track is Duane Allman’s 1957 gold-top Les Paul, the same six-string heard on the first two LPs the Allman Brothers produced. There’s definitely a magical element to the recording, Simo says. The vibe of the Big House, using Duane’s guitar, plus all the touring we’d done leading up to it, all the refinement of the material on the road-it was a perfect storm.

The payoff is here with his band SIMO’s Let Love Show the Way, cut live and partly recorded at Macon’s The Big House Allman Brothers Museum. Simo played Duane Allman’s 1957 goldtop on the sessions at the former Allman Brothers’ group home. I had played the guitar a bunch of times before but during those sessions I just really bonded with it and never tried anything else, Simo says. It was pretty heavy standing in Duane’s former living room playing his guitar. I got into a groove with it and it lead me to beautiful places.

They finished their second record entitled "Let Love Show the Way" in Macon, Georgia which was released January 29, 2016 on CD, Vinyl and digital download. The album debuted at number 4 on the Billboard Blues chart in January 2016  . In January 2019 it was announced that Simo's first solo album, "OFF AT 11" would be released on March 1. The album was to be composed of old school blues and more psychedelic free form rock. Simo produced the album and recorded it in his new studio "The Friendly Confines" in Nashville, Tennessee Discography.
