This double album by the great Japanese shakuhachi master Katsuya Yokoyama was originally recorded in 1976 by RCA Records Japan, to be re-released in 1982 and again in 1998 by the German Wergo label. Katsuya Yokoyama (横山 勝也 Yokoyama Katsuya, 2 Dec 1934 in Shizuoka, Japan – 21 April 2010) was an internationally renowned player and teacher of the shakuhachi, a traditional vertical bamboo flute of Japan. He was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1934 and studied Kinko-ryu and Azuma styles of music with his father, Rampo Yokoyama, and grandfather, Koson Yokoyama.
